The Diana

The fishing vessel Diana was launched in 2004 and named after George Mure's mother "Diana".

She normally has a crew of between four and five plus her skipper Russel Potter who has worked for the company since 1995.

She has a 10-tonne freezer which will hold enough bait for 3-4 trips and a 20-tonne fish chiller designed to keep the product at the highest quality.
With two icemakers on board the Diana is able to produce up to four tonnes of sea ice per day, which is used to make an ice slurry. This is used to chill the fish down to 0°C as quickly as possible before they are packed down in bins and covered in sea ice. This method ensures the fish are kept in a pristine condition for delivery to the market.

There is a highly sophisticated electronics package which amongst other things gives a 3D image of the ocean floor!
Due to a number of factors such as weather conditions, seasonality of certain species and available quota, Diana also fishes further afield.
One such place is the Gascoyne Sea Mount about 450km east of Eden in NSW. Another place Russel likes to visit is Coral Sea Fishery NE of Brisbane and the high Seas outside the Australian Fishing Zone fishing for a variety of dermersal scalefish.
